We, at the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) are committed to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and recognize sustainability and inclusivity as our core values. With India’s G20 presidency highlighting global priorities like economic growth, skill development, cultural exchange, and sustainable practices, our initiatives align with these goals, preparing the next generation of hospitality leaders to make a meaningful global impact. Throughout the year, IIHM manages various SDG-driven initiatives to create a sustainable future for the next generation.
The most prominent and widely recognized SDG initiative at IIHM is our FOOD SOLDIER activity, entirely driven by our passionate students across all campuses. IIHM students prepare meals and distribute essential commodities to underprivileged communities, including children, orphanages, and senior citizens in old-age homes, embodying the spirit of compassion and service.
Our tree plantation drives across all campuses contribute to responsible consumption and production. Students actively participate in making our surroundings greener and more sustainable. We are also proud of our campus kitchen gardens, where we grow our own herbs and vegetables to use in our regular culinary demonstrations and prepare in-house event meals.
Every IIHM campus embraces inclusivity and respects gender equality in classrooms and beyond. We provide education for all and welcome students from all corners of the world. We take pride in fostering cultural consciousness among our hospitality management students by hosting and showcasing various international and national cultural festivities. Our students, once they step into their professional lives, become aware of global challenges and develop an appreciation for local cultures and cuisines.
We celebrate Bengal’s iconic Durga Puja in a sustainable way at our opulent IIHM Global Campus in Kolkata, involving all students and faculty. Declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 2021, our SDG-inspired Durga Puja uses biodegradable materials for decorations and idols, promoting sustainability within the community.
Young Chef Olympiad (YCO), our mega annual event, fosters culinary talent globally. This year, YCO 2025 celebrates Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the theme AI & Sustainability, promoting global well-being through sustainability, innovation, and cultural exchange within the culinary world.
Our Founder and Chief Mentor, Dr. Suborno Bose, addressed the world during his
keynote at the G20
Summit in 2023, emphasizing hospitality’s role in sustainable and inclusive growth,
skill
development, and cultural bonding.
As a proud supporter of the SDGs, IIHM ensures that sustainability is not just a concept but a
practice embedded in the heart of hospitality education, creating a profound global impact.
